MORGAN STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT INSURANCE PAGE

Morgan State University is pleased to announce a new 2013-14 Student Health Insurance Plan (SHP) that complies with the student insurance requirements under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act at an affordable premium.

This Student Insurance Plan has arranged for you to access the CareFirst® BlueCross® BlueShield® Preferred Network in your local campus community. Using our Participating Provider Network you may access in-network savings for services rendered nationally if you require treatment or hospitalization outside the immediate area of the campus. To maximize your savings and reduce your out-of-pocket expenses, select a provider that is in the CareFirst® BlueCross® BlueShield® Preferred Network. It is to your advantage to utilize an In-Network Provider because significant savings can be achieved from the substantially lower rates these providers have agreed to accept as payment for their services. In-Network providers are independent contractors and are neither employees nor agents of Morgan State University.

MANDATORY PRIMARY PLAN PARTICIPATION

All full-time undergraduate students taking 12 or more credit hours and J-1 Visa "Exchange Students and Scholars" are automatically enrolled and billed each semester for the SHP when registered.  Students who have other creditable health insurance may elect to waive out of the SHP.

VOLUNTARY PARTICIPATION

Part-time and graduate students participating under the NEXUS program with a Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) are eligible to enroll in this insurance plan.  Graduate students completing their thesis are also eligible to enroll on a voluntary basis.  To enroll in the student health plan and pay with a credit card, click on the Enroll Online.

Students who wish to obtain insurance coverage for their eligible dependents must be enrolled themselves in the Student Health Plan and the effective and termination dates of coverage must match that of the insured student's coverage.
